New Palace Museum
Hidden in nature and
occupying many acres of land, this place is a residence of Karveer Chhatrapati.
Ahilyabai Ranisaheb built this palace during 1877 to 1884. This was designed by
the British architect Major Mant. A clock in the tower rings every hour. This
palace consists of the Darbar Hall, billiards court along with fountains,
imperial squares and many rooms around it. Walls, corners and towers of this
palace reflect art styles of various Hindu periods. In 1974, on the occasion of
the birth centenary of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, a major part of this palace
was converted into a historical museum. Many priceless paintings, historical
& traditional weapons, signs of kings, golden and silver goods, wild
animals hunted by kings, trophies, the darbar hall are preserved & displayed
neatly.
A zoo in the premises of
this palace is located in & around a small lake. This consists peacock. Ostrich,
deer, chital, sambar etc.; we can see them wandering freely.
न्यू पॅलेस म्युझियम
निसर्गाच्या कुशीत, रम्य वनराईत, अनेक एकरांच्या विस्तृत परिसरात पसरलेलं हे ठिकाण म्हणजे करवीर छत्रपतींचं निवासस्थान. सन 1877 ते 1884 या कालावधीत अहिल्याबाई राणीसाहेबांनी ही इमारत बांधून घेतली. मेजर मँट या ब्रिटिश वास्तुशास्त्रज्ञाने या राजवाड्याचा नकाशा केलेला आहे. राजवाड्याच्या मध्यभागी असलेला घड्याळाचा मनोरा दर तासाला वेळेची अचूक वर्दी देतो. राजवाड्यामध्ये दरबार हॉल, बिलियर्डस् कोर्ट यासह कारंजे, भव्य चौक व त्याभोवती अनेक खोल्या आहेत. भिंती, कोनाडे व मनोरे यांच्या घडणीमध्ये विविध कालखंडातील हिंदू शिल्पशैली अतिशय आकर्षकपणे मांडलेली आहे. राजर्षी शाहूंच्या जन्मशताब्दीनिमित्य सन 1974 मध्ये या राजवाड्याचा बराच मोठा भाग ऐतिहासिक वस्तुसंग्रहालयात रूपांतरित करण्यात आला. या संग्रहालयात अनेक अनमोल पेंटिंग्ज, ऐतिहासिक व परंपरागत शस्त्रास्त्रे, राजचिन्हे, सोन्या चांदीच्या वस्तू, शिकारीतील भुसा भरून ठेवलेली जनावरे, ट्रॉफीज्, अतिशय सुबकपणे मांडणी करून ठेवलेला दरबार हॉल अशी विविध दालने आहेत.
राजवाड्याच्या परिसरात एक छोटेखानी प्राणीसंग्रहालय असून ते एका छोटेखानी तळ्याभोवती पसरलेले आहे. त्यामध्ये मोर, शहामृग, हरिण, चितळ, सांबर, इत्यादी मुक्तपणे वावरताना आपण पाहू शकतो.
