Panchganga Ghat
The lifeline of Kolhapur… this ghat exists on the bank of river Panchganga. Humans inhabited around river Panchganga thereon established the city of Kolhapur. Located towards northeast of Kolhapur city, the Panchganga ghat occupies many temples. Some temples are situated in river bed. Beside the river, in a strengthened construction; exists a cemetery of the royal family of Kolhapur. Funeral of the second and the third Shivaji, Shambhu alias Abasaheb Maharaj took place here. The monuments are built in their loving memory. Monument of the third Shivaji is the biggest and beautifully carved.
Brahmapuri Picnic Point
A widespread riverbed of Panchganga looks picturasq in the evening at the time of sunset. At Brahmapuri picnic point, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation has developed a beautiful garden. In earlier times, a well developed town existed in this region. During excavations, many things as old as 2500 to 3000 years are found here. They are preserved & displayed at the Town Hall Museum.
पंचगंगा घाट
कोल्हापूरची जीवनदायिनी... पंचगंगा नदीच्या तीरावर
मतबूत बांधणीचा हा घाट आहे. वाहत्या जीवनधारांच्या अवतीभवती वसलेल्या मानवी वस्तीचं
रूपांतर आजच्या कोल्हापुरात झालं आहे. शहराच्या वायव्येला पंचगंगा नदीकिनारी असलेल्या
घाटाच्या अवतीभवती काही मंदिरं आहेत. नदीपात्रात देखील इथं काही मंदिरं पाहायला मिळतात.
पंचगंगा घाटाच्या बाजूला असलेल्या पडकोटात राजघराण्यातील व्यक्तींच्या पार्थिवाचं दहन
करण्याची जागा आहे. इथे दुसरे शिवाजी, तिसरे शिवाजी, शंभू उर्फ आबासाहेब, शहाजी उर्फ
बाबासाहेब यांच्या छत्र्या आहेत. सन 1815 मध्ये बांधलेली तिसर्‍या शिवाजींची छत्री
सर्वात मोठी व कोरीवकाम केलेली आहे.
ब्रह्मपुरी पिकनिक पॉइंट
सायंकाळी, सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी विस्तीर्ण पसरलेल्या
पंचगंगेचं विलोभनीय व मनात साठवून ठेवण्याजोगं दृष्य येथून पाहता येतं. पंचगंगेला लागून
असलेल्या ब्रह्मपुरी टेकडीच्या एका उंचवट्यावर कोल्हापूर महानगरपालिकेनं एक उद्यान
विकसित केलं आहे. हाच ब्रह्मपुरी पिकनिक पॉइंट. पूर्वीच्या काळी इथं एक नेटकं नगर अस्तित्वात
होतं. इथं झालेल्या उत्खननात 2500 ते 3000 वर्षांपूर्वीच्या वस्तू सापडल्या आहेत. या
वस्तू आज टाऊन हॉल म्युझियम मध्ये संग्रही ठेवण्यात आल्या आहेत.
